Professional Manga Artist Kazuo Maekawa Meets Fans from Around the World
From April 16–18, 2026, MANGA DOJO TOKYO participated in an anime convention in the Netherlands!
Our representative instructor, Kazuo Maekawa, the manga artist behind the Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban) and Ace Attorney Investigations (Gyakuten Kenji) manga series, attended the event and spent three exciting days meeting manga and anime fans from across Europe.
Live Manga Portrait Drawings by a Professional Manga Artist
One of the highlights of the event was our special portrait drawing booth, where Maekawa-sensei created personalized manga-style portraits for visitors.
Many guests were fascinated by the opportunity to watch a professional Japanese manga artist draw in real time. The excitement and smiles on visitors’ faces when they received their finished artwork made the experience truly memorable.
No matter the language or nationality, the joy of drawing and creativity brings people together.
Connecting with Manga Fans Across Europe
Throughout the event, we welcomed visitors not only from the Netherlands, but also from neighboring countries such as Belgium and Germany.
Some guests were already familiar with Maekawa-sensei’s work, while others were aspiring artists interested in learning more about the manga industry and the life of a professional manga creator.
Receiving direct feedback and encouragement from international fans was an inspiring experience for our team and a reminder of how far Japanese manga culture has reached around the world.
Manga Connects People Across Borders
This event once again showed us that manga is a universal language capable of connecting people from different cultures and backgrounds.
At MANGA DOJO TOKYO, we not only host manga workshops in Tokyo but also participate in international events and educational programs to share Japanese manga culture with the world.
